Chris Austin CBE

Trustee and Company Secretary

Chris Austin is a Trustee and Secretary for the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation. A recently retired civil servant and diplomat, Chris brings 40 years’ experience of running large international development programmes in Africa and Asia; senior roles in international negotiations (including G8 and EU); and leadership of humanitarian responses in Bangladesh and the Caribbean.

Since retiring, Chris has taken on several trustee roles with organisations involved with international development and business relations.

Chris has a BA (Hons) in Modern History (London, 1984), an MBA (Lancaster, 1993) and an MSc in Public Management (Warwick, 2011).  He qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants in 2008.

 

Chris is married to Karin and lives in Twickenham, England. They have two grown-up sons. He enjoys playing golf, umpiring (after playing at club level), travel and reading. He has been an MCC member since 1996 and went to his first cricket match at Old Trafford in 1971: Clive was playing; it rained.

Chris was appointed Commander of the British Empire in the 2017 New Year Honours, for services to international development.
