Colin McFarlane

Colin McFarlane is an award-winning actor with an extensive career across film, television, theatre, animation, computer games, radio…. and more recently a vocal campaigner about men’s health and social and racial justice.

He was most recently seen on screen as Gen Austin Pierce  in The War Between the Land and the Sea (BBC / Disney+), as Bill Marcus in Death Valley, and as Chief Superintendent Cunningham in series two of Piglets. His wide-ranging television credits also include Outlander, Doctor Who, Industry, Toast of Tinseltown, Not Going Out, Death in Paradise, and The Fast Show.

His film work includes the role of Commissioner Loeb in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and Sam the Conductor in The Commuter opposite Liam Neeson.

Colin is also one of the UK’s most recognisable voice artists. You can currently hear his voice on the Quorn TV adverts and he is the iconic voice of The Cube in both the UK and US versions of the hit game show, and in children’s animation he voices characters in Supertato,Fireman Sam, Thomas & Friends, Peppa Pig, Little Princess, Milo, Hey Duggee, Mike the Knight and the forthcoming new series of Zog, Colour Blocks, & MaeBee, as well as characters in numerous major computer games.

Colin has enjoyed an extensive theatre career ranging from Shakespeare to modern classics. His most recent stage work includes the Pinter by Pinter season with Rupert Graves and Jane Horrocks, and Fences with Lenny Henry, both in the West End.

Beyond acting, Colin is a prominent campaigner for prostate cancer awareness, drawing on his own experience and regularly speaking on platforms including BBC Breakfast, Channel 4 News, and TalkSport. He is also a co-founder with singer Annie Lennox of Justice 4, a social and racial justice charity registered in July 24 and whose first campaign is Justice4Windrush, which campaigns for justice and redress for the Windrush generation through the power of storytelling and the arts.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the arts and to men’s health, Colin was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in 2025 from Loughborough University, by Lord Seb Coe, a full-circle moment, having studied drama there from 1980 to 1983.
