
Professor Habib Naqvi MBE FFPH
Chair
Professor Habib Naqvi is Chair of the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation, and Chief Executive of the NHS Race and Health Observatory in England. He works nationally and internationally to tackle ethnic inequalities in healthcare by facilitating research, making health policy recommendations, and enabling long-term transformational change.
Habib joined the NHS in 2001, spending several years working in public health before joining theUK’s Department of Health and Social Care where he led national policy on health equity. Since2013, Habib has directed the development and implementation of national health equity programmes, forging international partnerships in the US, Australia and Brazil, and chairingnational committees and inquiries.
Habib has a passion for cricket. He is a Board member at Somerset County Cricket Club and Chair of his local cricket club in Bristol, England. He is also a Trustee of the Mary Seacole Trust where he advises on matters relating to health equity.
Habib was awarded an MBE in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to equality and diversity in the NHS; he received a Fellowship through distinction at the UK Faculty of Public Health in 2023 and was awarded the title of Honorary Visiting Professor of Health Equity at the Queen’s Institute for Medicine, University of Greater Manchester.
